Log in via SSH and Update your System<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>First, you will need to log in to your Ubuntu 20.04 VPS via SSH as the root user:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">ssh root@IP_ADDRESS -p PORT_NUMBER<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Make sure to replace &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">IP_ADDRESS<\/span>&#8221; and &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">PORT_NUMBER<\/span>&#8221; with their respective values. The default SSH port is 22, but it might be set to a different value on your server.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, run the following commands to upgrade all installed packages on your server:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">apt-get update -y\r\napt-get upgrade -y<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once your system is up-to-date, you can proceed to the next step.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-install-required-dependencies\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2-Install-Required-Dependencies\"><\/span>2. Install Required Dependencies<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>First, you will need to install Python and other packages required to build and set up ERPNext. You can install them using the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">apt-get install libffi-dev python3-pip python3-dev  python3-testresources libssl-dev wkhtmltopdf gcc g++ make -y<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once all of the packages are installed, you can proceed to the next step.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-install-node-js\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3-Install-Nodejs\"><\/span>3. Install Node.js<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>ERPNext uses Node.js for its frontend, therefore you will need to install it on your server.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>First, add the Node.js version 14 repository using the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">curl -sL https:\/\/deb.nodesource.com\/setup_14.x | bash -<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once the repository is added, run the following command to install Node.js and Redis server in your system.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">apt-get install nodejs redis-server -y<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once both packages are installed, you can verify the Node.js version using the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">node --version<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You should get the following output:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">v14.17.1\r\n<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, install the Yarn package by running the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">npm install -g yarn<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once the package is installed, you can proceed to the next step.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-install-and-configure-mariadb-server\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4-Install-and-Configure-MariaDB-Server\"><\/span>4. [Y\/n] Y\r\nNew password:\r\nRe-enter new password:\r\nRemove anonymous users? [Y\/n] Y\r\nDisallow root login remotely? [Y\/n] Y\r\nRemove test database and access to it? [Y\/n] Y\r\nReload privilege tables now? [Y\/n] Y\r\n<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once the MariaDB is secured, log in to the MariaDB console with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">mysql -u root -p<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>After login, change the MariaDB authentication plugin with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">MariaDB [(none)]&gt;USE mysql;\r\nMariaDB [(none)]&gt;UPDATE user SET plugin='mysql_native_password' WHERE User='root';<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, flush the privileges and exit from the MariaDB shell with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">MariaDB [(none)]&gt; FLUSH PRIVILEGES;\r\nMariaDB [(none)]&gt; EXIT;<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, you will need to change MariaDB Innodb file format to Barracuda. You can configure it by editing the file <code>\/etc\/mysql\/mariadb.conf.d\/50-server.cnf<\/code>:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">nano \/etc\/mysql\/mariadb.conf.d\/50-server.cnf<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Add\/Modify the following lines:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">[mysqld]\r\ninnodb-file-format=barracuda\r\ninnodb-file-per-table=1\r\ninnodb-large-prefix=1\r\ncharacter-set-client-handshake = FALSE\r\ncharacter-set-server = utf8mb4\r\ncollation-server = utf8mb4_unipre_ci\r\n<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>[mysql]<\/p>\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>default-character-set = utf8mb4<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Save and close the file, then restart the MariaDB service to implement the changes:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">systemctl restart mariadb<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-create-a-user-for-erpnext\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5-Create-a-User-for-ERPNext\"><\/span>5. Create a User for ERPNext<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Before starting, you will need to create a user to run the ERPNext.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Create a new user named <code>erpnext<\/code> by running the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">useradd -m -s \/bin\/bash erpnext<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, set the password with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">passwd erpnext<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, add the <code>erpnext<\/code> user to the <code>sudo<\/code> group so that it can run the superuser command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">usermod -aG sudo erpnext<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, log in to the ERPNext user and set up the environment variables with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">su - erpnext\r\nnano ~\/.bashrc<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Add the following line:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">PATH=$PATH:~\/.local\/bin\/\r\n<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Save and close the file, then activate the environment variable with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">source ~\/.bashrc<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-6-install-erpnext\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6-Install-ERPNext\"><\/span>6. Install ERPNext<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, you will need to install a bench tool to install and manage ERPNext on your system.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>First, log in with the ERPNext user and create a new directory for ERPNext setup with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">su - erpnext\r\nsudo mkdir \/opt\/bench<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, change the ownership to the <code>erpnext<\/code> user:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">sudo chown -R erpnext:erpnext \/opt\/bench<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, change the directory to <code>\/opt\/bench<\/code> and clone the bench repository from Git:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">cd \/opt\/bench\r\ngit clone https:\/\/github.com\/frappe\/bench bench-repo<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, install the bench repo using the <code>pip3<\/code> command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">pip3 install -e bench-repo<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Once installed, initialize the bench directory with Frappe framework using the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">bench init erpnext<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You should see the following output:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">\u2714 Built js\/frappe-web.min.js\r\n\u2714 Built css\/web_form.css\r\n\u2714 Built css\/desk.min.css\r\n\u2714 Built js\/control.min.js\r\n\u2714 Built css\/frappe-web-b4.css\r\n\u2714 Built js\/form.min.js\r\n\u2714 Built js\/data_import_tools.min.js\r\n\u2714 Built js\/report.min.js\r\nINFO:bench.utils:setting up backups\r\nSUCCESS: Bench erpnext initialized\r\n<\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, change the directory to <code>erpnext<\/code> and create a new frappe site with the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">cd erpnext\r\nbench new-site erpnext.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">example.com<\/span><\/pre>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Make sure to replace <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">example.com<\/span> with your registered domain name. ou will be asked to provide your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosehosting.com\/blog\/how-to-reset-your-mariadb-root-password\/\">MariaDB root password<\/a>, as shown below:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">WARN: bench is installed in editable mode!\r\nThis is not the recommended mode of installation for production.
