With CubeCart you can setup an online store which can be used to sell digital or physical products to customers all over the world. In this guide we will explain how to install CubeCart on an Ubuntu 14.04 VPS<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing this tutorial, CubeCart 6.0.8 is the latest stable version available and it requires:<\/p>\n

– Apache web server.
\n– PHP (version 5.2.3 or higher) with GD graphics library and mbstring extension library.
\n– MySQL(version 4.1 or higher) installed on your Linux VPS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

INSTRUCTIONS:<\/p>\n

Login to your VPS via SSH<\/p>\n

ssh user@vps_IP<\/pre>\n
Update the system<\/p>\n
[user]$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade<\/pre>\n
Install MySQL so you can create the database needed. Run the following command:<\/p>\n
# apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client<\/pre>\n
Now run the post-installation script \u2018mysql_secure_installation\u2019 in order to set the MySQL root user password:<\/p>\n
# mysql_secure_installation\r\n\r\n- Set root password? [Y\/n] y\r\n\r\n- Remove anonymous users? [Y\/n] y\r\n\r\n- Disallow root login remotely? [Y\/n] y\r\n\r\n- Remove test database and access to it? [Y\/n] y\r\n\r\n- Reload privilege tables now? [Y\/n] y<\/pre>\n
So, you set the MySQL root password to your liking. Next thing you need to do is to create a database. Login to your MySQL service as root:<\/p>\n
[user]$ mysql -u root -p\r\n\r\nmysql> CREATE DATABASE cubecart;\r\n\r\nmysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON cubecart.* TO 'cubeuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'your-password';\r\n\r\nmysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;\r\nmysql> \\q\r\n<\/pre>\n
Do not forget to replace \u2018your-password\u2019 with a strong password.<\/p>\n
Install Apache2 web server<\/p>\n
[user]$ sudo apt-get install apache2<\/pre>\n
Install PHP and required PHP modules<\/p>\n
To install the latest stable version of PHP 5 and all required\u00a0modules, run:<\/p>\n
[user]$ sudo apt-get install php5 libapache2-mod-php5 php5-mcrypt php5-mysql php5-gd php5-curl<\/pre>\n
Download and extract the latest version of CubeCart to a directory on your server:<\/p>\n
[user]$ sudo cd \/opt && wget https:\/\/www.cubecart.com\/download\/CubeCart-6.0.8.zip\r\n[user]$ mkdir cubecart\r\n[user]$ sudo unzip CubeCart-6.0.8.zip -d cubecart\/\r\n[user]$ sudo mv cubecart\/ \/var\/www\/html\/cubecart\/<\/pre>\n
All files should\u00a0be readable by the web server, so set the proper ownership:<\/p>\n
[user]$ sudo chown www-data:www-data -R \/var\/www\/html\/cubecart<\/pre>\n
Create a new virtual host directive in Apache. For example, create a new Apache configuration file named \u2018cubecart.conf\u2019 on your virtual server:<\/p>\n
[user]$ sudo touch \/etc\/apache2\/sites-available\/cubecart.conf\r\n[user]$ sudo ln -s \/etc\/apache2\/sites-available\/cubecart.conf \/etc\/apache2\/sites-enabled\/cubecart.conf\r\n[user]$ sudo nano \/etc\/apache2\/sites-available\/cubecart.conf<\/pre>\n
Then, add the following lines:<\/p>\n
<VirtualHost *:80>\r\nServerAdmin admin@yourdomain.com\r\nDocumentRoot \/var\/www\/html\/cubecart\/\r\nServerName your-domain.com\r\nServerAlias www.your-domain.com\r\n<Directory \/var\/www\/html\/cubecart\/>\r\nOptions FollowSymLinks\r\nAllowOverride All\r\n<\/Directory>\r\nErrorLog \/var\/log\/apache2\/your-domain.com-error_log\r\nCustomLog \/var\/log\/apache2\/your-domain.com-access_log common\r\n<\/VirtualHost>\r\n<\/pre>\n
Restart the Apache web server for the changes to take effect:<\/p>\n
[user]$ sudo service apache2 restart<\/pre>\n
Open your favorite web browser, navigate to http:\/\/your-domain.com\/ and if you configured everything correctly the CubeCart installer should be starting. You should follow the easy instructions on the install screen inserting the necessary information as requested.<\/p>\n
Once you finish the installation you can access the admin section at:<\/p>\n
