Log in Via SSH and Update the System<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Log in to your Ubuntu 18.04 VPS with SSH as a user with root access, or as the root user:<\/p>\n<pre>ssh root@IP_Address -p Port_number<\/pre>\n<p>Remember to replace &#8220;IP_Address&#8221; and &#8220;Port_number&#8221; with your server&#8217;s respective settings.<\/p>\n<p>You can check whether you have the correct version of Ubuntu installed on your server with the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>lsb_release -a<\/pre>\n<p>You should get this output:<\/p>\n<pre>Distributor ID: Ubuntu\r\nDescription: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS\r\nRelease: 18.04\r\nCodename: bionic<\/pre>\n<p>Then, run the following command to make sure that all installed packages on the server are updated to the latest available version:<\/p>\n<pre>apt update &amp;&amp; apt upgrade<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2-Install-the-LAMP-Stack\"><\/span>2. Create a new database<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Before installing Shopware Community Edition, we need to create a MySQL database. Let&#8217;s create one using the following commands:<\/p>\n<pre>mysql -u root -p<\/pre>\n<p>Let\u2019s proceed with creating a database for Shopware CE.<\/p>\n<pre>mysql&gt; create database shopwarece;\r\nQuery OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)\r\n\r\nmysql&gt; grant all on shopwarece.* to shopwarece@localhost identified by 'm0d1fyth15';\r\nQuery OK, 0 rows affected, 1 warning (0.00 sec)\r\n\r\nmysql&gt; flush privileges;\r\nQuery OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)\r\n\r\nmysql&gt; quit<\/pre>\n<p>Please change the password &#8216;m0d1fyth15&#8217; above to your desired password.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4-Create-Apache-virtual-host\"><\/span>4. Create Apache virtual host<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<pre>nano \/etc\/apache2\/site-available\/yourdomain.com.conf<\/pre>\n<pre>&lt;VirtualHost *:80&gt;\r\nServerAdmin admin@yourdomain.com\r\nDocumentRoot \/var\/www\/html\/shopwarece\r\nServerName <code>yourdomain.com<\/code> &lt;Directory \/var\/www\/html\/shopwarece\/&gt; Options FollowSymlinks AllowOverride All Require all granted &lt;\/Directory&gt; ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}\/shopwarece_error.log CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}\/shopwarece_access.log combined &lt;\/VirtualHost&gt;<\/pre>\n<p>Run the following commands to enable the new virtual host:<\/p>\n<pre>a2ensite <code>yourdomain.com<\/code>\r\n\r\nsystemctl reload apache2<\/pre>\n<p>Additionally, Shopware requires mod_rewrite to be enabled. We can run the following commands to enable it:<\/p>\n<pre>a2enmod rewrite\r\n\r\nsystemctl restart apache2<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5-Install-Shopware-CE\"><\/span>5. Install Shopware CE<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We need to download the installation package from Shopware&#8217;s official page at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.shopware.com\/download\/\">this link<\/a>. However, we made it easy for you to download Shopware &#8211; the command below will download it for you. But, it&#8217;s possible that the link will stop working after some time, or the version will become outdated with time.
