Install MariaDB 10.0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To install MariaDB, run the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo apt-get install -y mariadb-server<\/pre>\n<p>Next, we need to create a database for our Cachet installation.<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ mysql -u root -p\r\n\r\nMariaDB [(none)]&gt; CREATE DATABASE cachet;\r\nMariaDB [(none)]&gt; GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON cachet.* TO 'cachetuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'your-password';\r\nMariaDB [(none)]&gt; FLUSH PRIVILEGES;\r\nMariaDB [(none)]&gt; \\q<\/pre>\n<p>Do not forget to replace \u2018your-password\u2019 with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosehosting.com\/blog\/generate-password-linux-command-line\/\">strong password<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4-Install-Apache2-web-server\"><\/span>4. Install PHP and required PHP modules<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To install the latest stable version of PHP version 7 and all necessary modules, run:<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo apt-get install php7.0 libapache2-mod-php7.0 php7.0-mbstring php7.0-curl php7.0-zip php7.0-gd php7.0-mysql php7.0-mcrypt php7.0-xml curl<\/pre>\n<p>Enable the Apache2 rewrite module if it is not already done:<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo a2enmod rewrite<\/pre>\n<p>In order to activate the new configuration, restart the Apache web server using the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo service apache2 restart<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6-Download-the-source-code-with-Git\"><\/span>6. Download the source code with Git<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo cd \/var\/www\/html\/\r\n[user]$ sudo git clone https:\/\/github.com\/cachethq\/Cachet.git\r\n[user]$ sudo cd Cachet\r\n[user]$ sudo git checkout v2.3.9<\/pre>\n<p>All files have to be readable by the web server, so we need to set a proper ownership<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo chown www-data:www-data -R \/var\/www\/html\/Cachet\/<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7-Configuring-a-database\"><\/span><strong>7. Configuring a database<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Rename the .env.example file to .env using the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo mv .env.example .env<\/pre>\n<p>Open the .env file and change the following lines:<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo nano .env\r\nAPP_URL=http:\/\/localhost -&gt; APP_URL=http:\/\/your-domain-name\r\nDB_DATABASE=cachet -&gt; DB_DATABASE=your-database-name\r\nDB_USERNAME=homestead -&gt; DB_USERNAME=your-database-username\r\nDB_PASSWORD=secret -&gt; DB_PASSWORD=your-database-password<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8-Install-Composer\"><\/span><strong>8. Install Composer<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Composer is a dependency manager for PHP with which you can install packages. Composer will pull in all the required libraries and dependencies you need for your project.<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo curl -sS https:\/\/getcomposer.org\/installer | sudo php -- --install-dir=\/usr\/local\/bin --filename=composer \r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo composer install --no-dev -o<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9-Set-the-application-key\"><\/span><strong>9. Set the application key<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Before going any further, we need to set the APP_KEY config. This is used for all encryption used in Cachet.<\/p>\n<pre>php artisan key:generate<\/pre>\n<p>Cachet comes with an installation command that will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Run migrations<\/li>\n<li>Run seeders (of which there are none)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre>php artisan app:install<\/pre>\n<p>Create a new virtual host directive in Apache. For example, create a new Apache configuration file named \u2018cachet.conf\u2019 on your virtual server:<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo touch \/etc\/apache2\/sites-available\/cachet.conf\r\n[user]$ sudo ln -s \/etc\/apache2\/sites-available\/cachet.conf \/etc\/apache2\/sites-enabled\/cachet.conf\r\n[user]$ sudo nano \/etc\/apache2\/sites-available\/cachet.conf<\/pre>\n<p>Then, add the following lines:<\/p>\n<pre>    &lt;VirtualHost *:80&gt;\r\n    ServerName your-domain.com\r\n    # Or whatever you want to use\r\n    ServerAlias www.your-domain.com\r\n    # Make this the same as ServerName\r\n    DocumentRoot \"\/var\/www\/html\/Cachet\/public\"\r\n    &lt;Directory \"\/var\/www\/html\/Cachet\/public\"&gt;\r\n        Require all granted \r\n        # Used by Apache 2.4\r\n        Options Indexes FollowSymLinks\r\n        AllowOverride All\r\n        Order allow,deny\r\n        Allow from all\r\n   &lt;\/Directory&gt;\r\n   &lt;\/VirtualHost&gt;\r\n    \r\n<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10-Restart-Apache-and-Verify-the-Installation\"><\/span>10. Restart Apache and Verify the Installation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Restart the Apache web server for the changes to take effect:<\/p>\n<pre>[user]$ sudo service apache2 restart<\/pre>\n<p>Open your favorite web browser, navigate to http:\/\/your-domain.com\/ and if you properly configured everything the Cachet installer should be starting. You should follow the easy instructions on the install screen inserting the necessary information as requested.<\/p>\n<p>That is it.
