with your SSH port number.<\/p>\n<p>Once you are logged in, issue the following commands to update the packages list and upgrade all installed packages:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt-get update\r\nsudo apt-get upgrade<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-2-Install-MySQL-and-Create-a-Database\"><\/span>Step 2: Install MySQL and Create a Database<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>OwnCloud works with several database platforms, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and SQLite. In this guide, we will use MySQL.<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have MySQL or MariaDB installed on your server install it with the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt-get install mysql-server<\/pre>\n<p>Once installed, set the default storage engine to InnoDB. Open the MySQL configuration file with:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo nano \/etc\/mysql\/mysql.conf.d\/mysqld.cnf<\/pre>\n<p>and add <code>default-storage-engine = innodb<\/code> in the <code>[mysqld]<\/code> section:<\/p>\n<pre>[mysqld]\r\ndefault-storage-engine = innodb\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Restart and enable the MySQL service:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo systemctl restart mysql\r\nsudo systemctl enable mysql\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Login to the MySQL server with:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo mysql<\/pre>\n<p>Create a new database and user for ownCloud and grant permissions to the user:<\/p>\n<pre>create database owncloud;\r\ngrant all privileges on owncloud.* to owncloud@localhost identified by 'owncloud_password';\r\n<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-3-Install-ownCloud\"><\/span>Step 3: Install ownCloud<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>At the time of writing the latest ownCloud version is 10.0.10.<\/p>\n<p>Install the apt-transport-https package which necessary for enabling the owncloud repository:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt-get install apt-transport-https<\/pre>\n<p>Download the repository key using the <code>wget<\/code> command and import it with the <code>apt-key<\/code> command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo  wget -qO- https:\/\/download.owncloud.org\/download\/repositories\/stable\/Ubuntu_18.04\/Release.key | sudo apt-key add -<\/pre>\n<p>The output will look as the following:<\/p>\n<pre>OK<\/pre>\n<p>Next, enable the ownCloud repository by running the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>echo 'deb http:\/\/download.owncloud.org\/download\/repositories\/10.0\/Ubuntu_18.04\/ \/' &gt; \/etc\/apt\/sources.list.d\/owncloud.list<\/pre>\n<p>Update the packages list and install the <code>owncloud-files<\/code> package with:<\/p>\n<pre>apt-get update\r\napt-get install owncloud-files\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Once the installation is completed you can find the ownCloud files in the <code>\/var\/www\/owncloud<\/code> directory.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-4-Install-Apache-and-PHP-72\"><\/span>Step 4: Install Apache and PHP 7.2<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Installing Apache and PHP 7.2 is a very simple task.<\/p>\n<p>To install Apache, PHP 7, and all of the necessary modules on your Ubuntu 18.04 server, run the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php7.2 \\\r\n    openssl php-imagick php7.2-common php7.2-curl php7.2-gd \\\r\n    php7.2-imap php7.2-intl php7.2-json php7.2-ldap php7.2-mbstring \\\r\n    php7.2-mysql php7.2-pgsql php-smbclient php-ssh2 \\\r\n    php7.2-sqlite3 php7.2-xml php7.2-zip<\/pre>\n<p>Once the Apache installation is complete, run the following commands enable the necessary Apache modules:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo a2enmod rewrite\r\nsudo a2enmod headers\r\nsudo a2enmod env\r\nsudo a2enmod dir\r\nsudo a2enmod mime\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Restart the Apache service and enable Apache to start on boot with:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo systemctl enable apache2.service\r\nsudo systemctl enable apache2.service<\/pre>\n<p>You can also check the php version by running:<\/p>\n<pre>php -v<\/pre>\n<p>The output will look like the following:<\/p>\n<pre>PHP 7.2.10-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 (cli) (built: Sep 13 2018 13:45:02) ( NTS )\r\nCopyright (c) 1997-2018 The PHP Group\r\nZend Engine v3.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2018 Zend Technologies\r\n    with Zend OPcache v7.2.10-0ubuntu0.18.04.1, Copyright (c) 1999-2018, by Zend Technologies\r\n<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step-5-Configure-Apache-to-Serve-ownCloud\"><\/span>Step 5: Configure Apache to Serve ownCloud<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Now we need to configure Apache so it can serve the ownCloud directory.<\/p>\n<p>Open your text editor and create a configuration file for ownCloud:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo nano \/etc\/apache2\/conf-available\/owncloud.conf<\/pre>\n<p>add the following contents:<\/p>\n<pre>Alias \/owncloud \"\/var\/www\/owncloud\/\"\r\n&lt;Directory \/var\/www\/owncloud\/&gt;\r\nOptions +FollowSymlinks\r\nAllowOverride All\r\n\r\n&lt;IfModule mod_dav.c&gt;\r\nDav off\r\n&lt;\/IfModule&gt;\r\n\r\nSetEnv HOME \/var\/www\/owncloud\r\nSetEnv HTTP_HOME \/var\/www\/owncloud\r\n\r\n&lt;\/Directory&gt;\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Enable the Apache ownCloud configuration:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo a2enconf owncloud<\/pre>\n<p>Restart the Apache web server for new changes to take effect:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo systemctl restart apache2<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Accessing-ownCloud\"><\/span>Accessing ownCloud<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Open your web browser and type in the following URL to access the ownCloud web interface:<\/p>\n<pre>http:\/\/<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">your_server_ip_address_or_domain_name<\/span>\/owncloud<\/pre>\n<p>From here you can finish the setup by following the steps below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter a username and password for the admin account.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the Storage &amp;
