Also, if this is your first time logging to your VPS make sure you check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosehosting.com\/blog\/first-steps-after-getting-an-ubuntu-vps\/\">First Steps After Getting an Ubuntu VPS<\/a> tutorial.<\/p>\n<p>After you have successfully logged in, we need to make sure that all our packages are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosehosting.com\/blog\/update-the-software-on-linux\/\">up to date<\/a> by running the following commands:<\/p>\n<pre>apt-get update\r\napt-get upgrade<\/pre>\n<p>You can also enable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosehosting.com\/blog\/how-to-enable-automatic-updates-on-a-linux-vps\/\">automatic updates<\/a> on your VPS.<\/p>\n<p>To install Odoo 11 on our system we will use a script made by Yenthe Van Ginneken.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2-Download-and-Install-Yenthe-Van-Ginneken-Script\"><\/span>2. Download and Install Yenthe Van Ginneken Script<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Navigate to a directory wherever you would like to download the script. For example, to go into the &#8216;home&#8217; directory you need to type:<\/p>\n<pre>cd \/home<\/pre>\n<p>Then use the following command to download the script:<\/p>\n<pre>wget https:\/\/raw.githubusercontent.com\/Yenthe666\/InstallScript\/11.0\/odoo_install.sh<\/pre>\n<p>You can also modify the script if you would like with:<\/p>\n<pre>nano odoo_install.sh<\/pre>\n<p>For example, you can change the version you would like to install, the location of where it will installed, whether you install the enterprise version or not and most important you can change the master admin password you would like to use.<\/p>\n<p>After you make the desired changes, make sure you save them.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3-Make-Executable-File\"><\/span>3. Make Executable File<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In order to run the script we need to make the file executable with the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>chmod +x odoo_install.sh<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4-Install-Odoo-11\"><\/span>4. Install Odoo 11<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Now we can run the script and wait until Odoo 11 gets installed.<\/p>\n<pre>.\/odoo_install.sh<\/pre>\n<p>Congratulations! Odoo 11 has now been installed on your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosehosting.com\/ubuntu-hosting.html\">Ubuntu 16.04 VPS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5-Set-Master-Password\"><\/span>5. Set Master Password<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t set the master admin password before the installation you can do it now by editing the Odoo 11 configuration file. You can open it with the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>nano \/etc\/odoo-server.conf<\/pre>\n<p>and change the admin_password field with a strong password. You can also generate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosehosting.com\/blog\/generate-password-linux-command-line\/\">one from the command line<\/a>.<\/p>\n<pre>admin_passwd = StrongPassword<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6-Verify-Odoo-Installation\"><\/span>6. Verify Odoo Installation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Restart Odoo for the changes to take effect:<\/p>\n<pre>\/etc\/init.d\/odoo-server restart<\/pre>\n<p>To access your Odoo, open your browser and navigate to http:\/\/your-server-IP:8069. You can do this with the following commands:<\/p>\n<pre>a2enmod proxy\r\na2enmod proxy_http<\/pre>\n<p>Once this is done, open a new configuration file for your domain with the following command:<\/p>\n<pre>nano \/etc\/apache2\/sites-available\/your_domain.conf<\/pre>\n<p>And enter the following:<\/p>\n<pre>&lt;VirtualHost *:80&gt;\r\nServerName your_domain.com\r\nServerAlias www.your_domain.com\r\n\r\nProxyRequests Off\r\n&lt;Proxy *&gt;\r\nOrder deny,allow\r\nAllow from all\r\n&lt;\/Proxy&gt;\r\n\r\nProxyPass \/ http:\/\/your_domain.com:8069\/\r\nProxyPassReverse \/ http:\/\/your_domain.com:8069\/\r\n&lt;Location \/&gt;\r\nOrder allow,deny\r\nAllow from all\r\n&lt;\/Location&gt;\r\n&lt;\/VirtualHost&gt;\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Enable &#8220;your_domain.conf&#8221; configuration in Apache using:<\/p>\n<pre>ln -s \/etc\/apache2\/sites-available\/your_domain.conf \/etc\/apache2\/sites-enabled\/your_domain.conf<\/pre>\n<p>Remember to replace your &#8216;your_domain.com&#8217; with your actual domain name. Save the file, close it and restart Apache for the changes to take effect:<\/p>\n<pre>service apache2 restart<\/pre>\n<p>That&#8217;s it.
